What To Wear: Fall Engagement Session edition
As you know, Anthony and I recently got engaged in June (if you didn’t know, read our story here)! It’s been the most exciting and crazy whirlwind as we start to plan our wedding. I waxed and waned about getting engagement photos done but after some encouragement from my gal pals, I scheduled us a session with a local photographer, the lovely Hannah from Hannah Cochran Photography. I’m obsessed with fall in New England so I was lucky Hannah had an opening for early October. As we are getting married abroad (eek, more on that later!) I thought it would be really nice to have professional photos of us taken where it all began - right here in Boston.
Now let’s be serious, I don’t have the first clue on what to wear for engagement pictures. After some research, I found out neither does anyone else!! All I ended up finding were vague lists of do’s & don’ts that included: “Be yourself!” and “Don’t obsess over your Pinterest board” …..yeah, okay. NOT helpful.
After stalking my favorite local & IG famous photographers and analyzing ALL the Pinterest photos (I’m only human), I came up with a strategy. Two looks: one causal and one fancy. Groundbreaking, I know.
The photos that I really liked all looked pretty similar. If you know me, it’ll come as no surprise that they all included classic silhouettes, gemstone colors, navy gingham, & 3/4 length sleeves. Basically, the J.McLaughlin fall catalog….haha

Thankfully (for my wallet), I have pieces that will fit into my “New England Fall” theme already in my closet. But since it is a special occasion, I want to pick up an item or two to make the shoot feel extra special. Many lattes and hours of web browsing later, voila. Here are a few of those items that I think are worth the splurge…
Now if anyone has ideas on how to do hair & make-up for a 6AM call time…I’m all ears!! What did you wear to your engagement session? Did you even do engagement photos?
